A pair of Florida men, Joseph Acevedo, 40, and Stanley Rumowski, 49, are headed to the big house after a recent conviction. The duo was found guilty of cocaine trafficking and weapons charges.

Apparently, these two were in the marijuana business, but things didn’t quite ‘grow’ as planned. While driving back from a less-than-successful trip to Miami, they got pulled over by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

A canine sniff led to the discovery of a loaded firearm and a stash of cocaine.

The evidence, including incriminating text messages, painted a clear picture of their illicit activities.

U.S. Attorney Markenzy Lapointe for the Southern District of Florida, Anthony Salisbury, Special Agent in Charge, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Miami Field Office, and Sheriff William D. Snyder of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement.

HSI Fort Pierce investigated this matter with significant assistance from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Breezye Telfair.
