19-Year-Old Ellenton Man Charged With Attempted Murder In November Shooting

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office charged an Ellenton man with Attempted First-Degree Murder following an investigation of a shooting in November.

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office charged an Ellenton man with Attempted First-Degree Murder following an investigation of a shooting in November.

Deputies say on November 23 at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls of shots being heard.

Patrol units and rescue personnel responded and located a victim slumped over in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

Rescue personnel immediately transported the victim to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The victim is still alive.

Deputies interviewed the complainant, who detailed that several shots were heard, including one bullet that had breached the home’s walls and several bullets that had penetrated the locked vehicle.

After a detailed investigation, Carlos Henry-Antonia Herrera, 19, of Ellenton, was charged with a single count of Attempted Murder and an additional count of Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle.

Herrera is currently in the Sarasota County Correctional Facility on other charges, including fleeing police, drug trafficking, and possession.

More arrests related to this case are expected in the coming week as the case is still an ongoing investigation and more charges are possible, investigators say.
