19-Year-Old Citrus Springs Woman Killed In Lecanto Highway Crash Sunday

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A 19-year-old Citrus Springs woman was killed on Sunday, in a crash that happened on Lecanto Highway at Carl G Rose Highway.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a van, driven by a 63-year-old Beverly Hills man, was traveling northbound on Carl G Rose Hwy. (CR-491) and had stopped at the intersection of Lecanto Hwy. A pickup truck, driven by the 19-year-old woman, was traveling westbound on Lecanto Hwy., approaching the intersection at CR-491.

Troopers say that despite a stop sign, the van entered the intersection and into the path of pickup truck.

The front of the van collided with the right rear of the pickup truck. Post-impact, FHP says the pickup truck rotated, departed the roadway, overturned, and collided with a fence before stopping.

Investigators say the 19-year-old woman suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The 63-year-old man sustained no injuries in the crash. Troopers say that both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
