CITRUS COUNTY, FL. – An 18-year-old Inverness woman was killed in a crash that happened around 1:46 pm on Friday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV, driven by a 16-year-old Ocala man, was traveling southbound on US-41 in the inside northbound lane.
Troopers say that just south of South Airport Road, the Ocala teen collided with the Inverness nearly head-on and rotated to a stop in the southbound left-turn lane.
The Inverness woman’s car rotated to a stop along the east sidewalk on the shoulder of US-41.
The woman was transported to a local hospital, but later died from injuries suffered in the crash. Her passenger, an 18-year-old man from Inverness, suffered serious injuries in the crash.
The Ocala teen also suffered serious injuries in the collision.
