SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – Troopers say a pickup truck, driven by a 31-year-old man from Yalaha Florida, was traveling westbound on CR-48, west of SE 41st Terrace. A car driven by an 18-year-old girl from Center Hill, Florida, was traveling eastbound on CR-48.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the pickup truck crossed the centerline, entered the eastbound lane, and collided nearly head-on with 18-year-old girl. The pickup truck rotated and ended up on the north shoulder as the girl’s vehicle rotated and ended up on the south shoulder. The 18-year-old suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The man driving the pickup truck suffered minor injuries. The FHP report shows that either driver was wearing seatbelts.
