TAMPA, FL. – The deceased person shot at Takomah Trail Park on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, has been identified as a 16-year-old juvenile.
Investigators say that homicide detectives learned that a group of individuals, shot and robbed a victim in Takomah Trail Park.
The victim responded by firing his legally-owned and properly-permitted concealed gun, striking the teen.
Additionally, investigators have confirmed a 32-year-old man (the victim) was shot at the park and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
When officers arrived at the scene, the remaining suspects and the robbery victim had fled the area.
The victim was located at a different location and cooperated with detectives. Police say the victim went to the hospital for treatment, but the 16-year-old succumbed to his injuries in the park.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and further charges may be pending. We will update this story when further details are released.
