TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Police have arrested 15-year-old Jahmir Moore in connection with the April 17, 2024, murder of 14-year-old Jevario Buie. Moore faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, following an extensive investigation.
The tragic event unfolded just after 3:30 p.m. on April 17 near the 1400 block of W. Busch Blvd. Officers responding to reports of gunfire found Jevario Buie near the railroad tracks between Busch Blvd. and Rome Ave. Buie succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Surveillance footage from nearby residences played a key role in the investigation. Video captured Buie, Moore, and another individual walking together between 2:41 p.m. and 3:27 p.m. Minutes later, at 3:33 p.m., Moore and Buie were seen heading northbound on N Rome Ave toward a dead end near the murder site. By 3:36 p.m., Moore was observed walking away from the scene alone.

Detectives uncovered additional evidence implicating Moore, including communication records, social media messages, notes, and search history. One message contained details about the murder that were not publicly known, further tying Moore to the crime.
“The loss of a child, especially in such a tragic manner, is unfathomable,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “I am incredibly appreciative of our detectives’ hard work that led to this arrest, but most importantly brought closure for Jevario’s mother and his family.”
On December 4, 2024, Tampa Police, in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, arrested Moore.
Moore faces the following charges:
- One Felony Count of Murder in the First Degree
- One Felony Count of Carrying a Concealed Firearm
- One Felony Count of Tampering with Physical Evidence
- One Misdemeanor Count of Minor in Possession of a Firearm
“This has been a difficult journey for Jevario’s family. Not only did they lose their precious son, but they also had been living without answers. Now, our prosecutors will be able to hold his killer accountable and seek justice for Jevario,” said State Attorney Suzy Lopez. “This defendant will be charged as an adult in this case. When you make adult decisions, you must be prepared to face adult consequences in Hillsborough County. Thank you to the Tampa Police Department for their tireless efforts in investigating this case.”
