TAMPA, Fla. – A 14-year-old is facing felony charges related to a fatal shooting outside a party in Tampa.
According to police, on October 29, 2022, just after midnight, officers of the Tampa Police Department responded to a 911 call at the Chamberlain Plaza, located at 1005 W. Busch Blvd, for shots fired.
Officers found multiple shell casings in the parking lot of the business plaza.
Approximately 20 minutes later, officers received a 911 call from a gas station at 2320 W Waters Ave for an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Officers arrived to find the female victim sitting in the front passenger seat of a car. She was pronounced deceased at the scene despite attempts to perform life-saving measures, police say.
According to two others in the vehicle, the victim had just left a music recording studio in the Chamberlain Plaza, police say. At the same time, a teen party was happening at another venue inside the plaza.

As a dark-colored vehicle entered the parking lot, shots were fired toward the car by two individuals on foot in the parking lot. The deceased victim was struck in the line of fire.
Police say she was not connected to the party or the shooters.
Through surveillance video, detectives identified Terrel Wimbley, 14, as the suspect on foot who was shooting in the direction of the victim’s vehicle, hitting the front passenger side of the car where the victim was seated.
Wimbley was just released from a juvenile detention facility six days before the shooting for a minor in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, and resisting an officer without violence.
On December 12, 2022, Wimbley was arrested on charges of felony manslaughter with a firearm, shooting at a vehicle, and minor in possession of a firearm.
An investigation is ongoing to identify others connected to this incident.
