14-Year-Old Arrested For Shooting Of Boy In St. Petersburg, 4 Teens Arrested In Crime Spree

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Officers arrested 14-year-old Michael Beverly on Monday and charged him with attempted murder in the 2nd degree, for a shooting that occurred at Wildwood Park, 1000 28th St. S., on May 8th.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Officers arrested 14-year-old Michael Beverly on Monday and charged him with attempted murder in the 2nd degree, for a shooting that occurred at Wildwood Park, 1000 28th St. S., on May 8th. 

Police say a 16-year-old boy was shot and survived his injuries.

Beverly was taken into custody early Monday with four other teens, ages 13-15, who had committed a spree of at least seven auto burglaries.

Just after midnight, officers spotted a stolen Kia Seltos in the area of 30th Avenue North and 59th Street.

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. It was eventually located in the 4600 block of 18th Avenue South, where five teenage boys ran into a nearby house. They were taken into custody and a gun was recovered.

Their charges include auto theft, residential burglary, auto burglary, and possession of burglary tools. One of the teens also had stolen credit cards.

Officers identified one of the teens as Michael Beverly, who was wanted for attempted murder in the May 8th shooting.
