BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – An 11-year-old girl was seriously injured this afternoon after being struck by a car in Hernando County. The incident occurred shortly after 3:30 PM on Eskimo Curlew Road, north of Osprey Avenue.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the child had just been dropped off by a school bus and was walking northbound along the unpaved and unmarked edge of the road.
A 65-year-old Brooksville woman driving a Toyota Corolla collided with the child.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene and transported the girl to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Corolla was uninjured.
