BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – A pedestrian accident on Tuesday afternoon has resulted in the tragic death of an 11-year-old child. The incident occurred on Eskimo Curlew Road, north of Osprey Avenue, at approximately 3:30 PM.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the child had just been dropped off by a school bus and was walking northbound along the unpaved and unmarked edge of the road when she was struck by a Toyota Corolla driven by a 65-year-old Brooksville woman.

Emergency responders rushed the girl to a local hospital with critical injuries. Sadly, she passed away Wednesday night. The driver of the Corolla was uninjured in the collision.
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident. Factors such as visibility, speed, and the lack of a designated pedestrian walkway in the area are being considered.
