Bryan Torres, 24, of Cherryville, North Carolina, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, followed by four years of supervised release, for drug trafficking and firearms violations, announced Acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, Lawrence J. Cameron.
According to court documents and proceedings, Torres was involved in drug trafficking activities in Gaston County between October 2022 and January 2023. During this period, law enforcement conducted multiple controlled purchases of methamphetamine, over 250 fentanyl pills, powder fentanyl, heroin, and other substances from Torres. Evidence indicated that Torres was armed during at least one of these drug transactions.

On February 2, 2023, a search warrant was executed at Torres’s residence, where investigators seized five firearms, ammunition, and additional quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Torres pleaded guilty on February 29, 2024, to charges of distribution of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Torres will remain in federal custody until he is transferred to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility.

The investigation was a joint effort by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Cherryville Police Department, and the Gaston County Police Department. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Charlotte prosecuted the case.
