Inverness Man Dies In Crash- Fire Overnight on US-98, Lakeland Woman Seriously Injured

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – One person has died and a 22-year-old woman from Lakeland was seriously injured in a head-on collision overnight.

Florida Highway Patrol says that a pickup truck driven by a 53-year-old Lakeland man was southbound on US-98 Friday night. An SUV traveling northbound crossed the center line and directly into the path of the pickup truck.

The vehicles collided head-on and the SUV became engulfed in flames. The driver of the SUV died at the scene and has been identified as a 36-year-old Inverness Florida man.

The passenger in the pickup truck, a 22-year-old Lakeland Woman, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
