Woman Pushing Shopping Cart Struck And Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Tampa

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Maydell Drive and Lucy Avenue.

On Monday, at 9:16 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a victim possibly being run over by a vehicle. When deputies arrived, they discovered an adult female victim who was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The victim was walking with a shopping cart within the northbound lane of Maydell Drive near Lucy Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle that was traveling northbound.

Detectives are searching for a potential suspect vehicle described as a 2002-2005 Dodge Ram, charcoal grey.

“A member of our community is dead and, right now, we are left without answers. Fleeing the scene of a crash is not only reckless and cruel but also an illegal act that comes with consequences,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Our dedicated detectives are tirelessly working to bring justice to this heartbreaking situation.”
