A Texas man has pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking charges in Louisiana. Leroy Otero, 35, admitted to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute large quantities of methamphetamine.
The guilty plea was entered on February 4, 2025, before United States District Judge Wendy B. Vitter. Otero faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, along with a potential fine of up to $10 million and at least five years of supervised release.

According to court documents, Otero was supplying significant amounts of methamphetamine to local drug dealers in Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted an investigation that revealed the extent of Otero’s drug trafficking activities.
The case was investigated by the DEA, the Houma Police Department, the Louisiana State Police, and the Terrebonne and Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Offices. Assistant United States Attorney Maurice Landrieu of the Narcotics Unit prosecuted the case.
