POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A pilot had an unexpected detour in Polk County when their small plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a highway.
The pilot, who was flying from Fort Myers to Bartow, landed the plane safely on U.S. Highway 17 near Homeland Garfield Road.

Fortunately, the pilot was unharmed, and no one on the ground was injured.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the emergency landing.
