Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida this week moved to cut off Deep State operatives from the flow of lucrative information after they leave the government.

The Fort Walton Beach Republican filed the “Security Clearance Revolving Door Act of 2023,” a bill prohibiting people from publicly disclosing whether they hold a security clearance.

If enacted, the measure would make it a misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in prison and a fine of up to $1,000, for publicly disclosing that one has a national security clearance.

In an email to constituents on Friday, Gaetz said his legislation was motivated in part by the 51 “spies who lie,” as the New York Post called them.

That referred to the 51 former U.S. intelligence officials who signed an open letter claiming that the Post’s October 2020 reporting on the scandalous and possibly incriminating emails found on Hunter Biden’s wayward laptop was a Russian disinformation scheme.

“Following the censorship of the New York Post’s exposé on the emails by Big Tech and media tycoons, the New York Times confirmed the legitimacy of the emails on March 17, 2022,” Gaetz noted in the email. “The prestige attached to the security clearances of these 51 officers was skillfully maneuvered against the American people, manipulating the facts of (the) 2020 presidential election.”

“The American people know that the Deep State primarily exists because of the widespread abuse of national security clearances by people who were trusted to act in the interests of our country,” Gaetz added.

“The security apparatus has been deftly turned against its citizens, skewing political perceptions, particularly those resonating with President Donald Trump. These 51 ex-intelligence officials, conspiring with past administrations, aimed to obscure revelations linking the Bidens to questionable foreign enterprises.”

“The intel officials used their clearances as badges of credibility, peddling deceit to mold the 2020 election outcome,” he concluded.

“In order to ensure that this never happens again, it is incumbent upon members of Congress to support this vital piece of legislation.”
