POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Davenport man’s questionable decision-making after finding a gun at Daytona Bike Week has landed him in trouble with the law. 31-year-old Carlos Borjas Pineda was arrested on Sunday, March 2nd, after allegedly firing the gun inside his screened-in patio in the early morning hours.
Polk County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call in the Sandy Ridge neighborhood of Loughman around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday. Residents reported finding a bullet hole in a house and a privacy fence, and they had heard gunshots around 3:00 a.m. that morning but did not report the incident to authorities at the time.

Deputies made contact with Pineda at his home, where they found shell casings on the ground. Pineda appeared nervous and called 911, claiming he was being harassed, despite deputies being present. He also refused to provide identification.
A witness informed deputies that she had confronted Pineda at 3 a.m. about firing the gun within his lanai. During questioning, Pineda admitted to finding the gun at Bike Week in Daytona the previous day and deciding to fire it off a few times inside his patio. The gun was later confirmed to have been reported lost to the Orlando Police Department.

Pineda was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail, charged with Shooting into a Dwelling (2 Counts), Discharging a Firearm in a Residential Area, Criminal Mischief, Misuse of 911, and Resisting without Violence.
